Here are the insights she shared:

1. Online presence – Having a current website with photos of staff, descriptions of procedures performed and information for patients as well as a presence on Facebook can increase an ASC’s online presence. ASCs can drive additional traffic to their website through sending a weekly newsletter.

2. Open houses – After a surgery center opens, hosting an open house can establish the facility’s presence in the community. ASCs can also invest in advertising to attract additional interest in the center.

3. Community visibility – ASCs should seek opportunities to be active in their local communities, such as being a part of their local chamber of commerce, volunteering and educating patients on surgical procedures.

4. Advertising – Placing ads in local medical journals and online can help get an ASC’s name out there.

5. Seek help – Hiring a public relations firm to manage an ASC’s website and other outreach initiatives can help a center stay competitive.
