Wheeling Hospital closing Belmont Community Hospital, opening ASC — 4 insights

Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital will close Bellaire, Ohio-based Belmont Hospital April 5, The Intelligencer reports.

1. Bellaire-based Acuity Healthcare will stay in the facility and provide long term acute care services.

2. Wheeling is redistributing resources throughout Ohio. Wheeling will expand its health center in Bellaire and open an ASC in Bridgeport, Ohio.

3. Wheeling Hospital will rebrand Belmont Hospital’s Belmont Community Health Center and expand it.

4. Wheeling Hospital also purchased the Compassionate Care Center for Surgical Excellence center in Bridgeport, which it will rebrand into the Wheeling Hospital Ambulatory Surgical Center.
