Wake Forest Baptist Health breaks ground on $31.5M surgical facility — 5 insights

Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington (N.C.) Medical Center broke ground on its 26,500-square-foot surgical facility June 13, The Dispatch reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The center will have four digital operating rooms to accommodate a variety of specialties.

2. This is the biggest developmental project Lexington Medical Center has ever undertaken.

3. The project will be jointly funded by Wake Forest Baptist and local philanthropy. It’s expected to cost approximately $31.5 million and will open in fall 2019.

4. The surgical facility will include a 10-bay post-anesthesia care unit, a urology procedure room and a waiting room.

5. Lexington Medical Center is constructing the facility to replace its 40-year-old ORs.
