UnitedHealth Group gets a new CEO & more — 10 ASC industry notes

Optum CEO Andrew Witty was promoted to UnitedHealth Group president on Nov. 12 and will retain his responsibilities with Optum.

The University of Illinois at Chicago will soon begin to develop the Bruno and Sallie Pasquinelli Outpatient Surgery Center after the couple donated $10 million to UIC.

CMS finalized a price transparency policy in its 2020 outpatient prospective payment system. Read more

Miami-based Gastro Health acquired Fairfax-based Gastroenterology Associates of Northern Virginia.

Dallas-based EyeCare Services Partners tapped a leader from Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare to serve as chief operating officer.

UPMC and the Institute of Eye Surgery partnered to acquire Clane General Hospital in Kildare, Ireland, laying the foundation of what will soon be a national Ophthalmology Network of Excellence. 

Work is progressing on the Steamboat Springs-based Steamboat Surgery Center, which will be housed in a former Sports Authority store building. 

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare named Charles Gressle president of its East Florida Division in Fort Lauderdale.

The Cherokee Nation and the Indian Health Service held a grand opening ceremony for a $200 million tribal outpatient health center in Tahlequah, Okla., Nov. 14.

San Antonio-based Methodist Healthcare plans to soon build a medical campus with an ASC, physician offices and an acute care hospital.
