UMass Memorial, Shields Health Care Group plan freestanding surgery center

UMass Memorial Health Care, based in Worchester, Mass., and Shields Health Care Group, based in Quincy, Mass., plan to open a 40,000-square-foot, freestanding ambulatory surgery center in Shrewsbury, Mass., according to a Telegram report.

The two healthcare groups will open the new center operating as Healthcare Enterprises. The project is not expected to exceed the price of $30 million, according to the report. The facility would be primarily orthopedics driven.

The project is pending, contingent on state and town approvals.
