Boardman, Ohio-based Orthopaedic Surgery Center is building a $7 million center, according to The Business Journal.

1. Medical Director Les Schwendeman, MD, said cost-saving initiatives within the healthcare industry, coupled with elderly patients staying more active and fit, has reduced the need for procedures to be done in hospitals.

2. The new ASC will be 13,000 square feet, with private orthopedic suites for patients.

3. The Orthopaedic Surgery Center began formulating plans for a new center four years ago.
