Texas Institute for Surgery earns Press Ganey award for employee engagement: 5 key notes

Dallas-based Texas Institute for Surgery received Press Ganey's 2017 Guardian of Excellence Award.

Here are five things to know:

1. Texas Institute for Surgery, a joint venture between Dallas-based physicians and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, earned recognition for achieving employee engagement at the 95th percentile or above from Press Ganey on a consistent basis.

2. The hospital prides itself on cultivating a health culture with strong visions and values. During the hiring process, TIS takes time to ensure new employees will contribute to its high-performing team.

3. TIS employees often participate in or are in charge of activities to assess performance, award benefits and develop fun events for employee engagement. Some of the fun events include sporting activities or sharing desserts.

4. TIS holds a bi-monthly town hall meeting where employees are able to ask its president any questions and the leadership team rounds daily to interact with staff on a continuous basis. The hospital also offers benefits including insurance, a matched 401k and tuition reimbursement.

5. Employee engagement scores have reached the 99th percentile.
