Here are five things to know:

1. The Advanced Surgical Center of Sunset Hills is the first of three SurgCenter facilities scheduled to open in 2018. The 6,900-square-foot surgery center is located in St. Louis, a market SurgCenter Development exited years ago.

2. In January 2006, SurgCenter Development sold nine surgical centers — five of which were under letters of intent — to United Surgical Partners International for an undisclosed sum. The company’s new foray into St. Louis is a partnership with eight surgeons focused on orthopedics, neurosurgery, podiatry, ENT and pain management.

3. Advanced Surgical Center of Sunset Hills will include two operating rooms and one minor procedure room.

4. SurgCenter Development has partnered with more than 2,000 surgeons and helped develop more than 160 ASCs since its inception in 1993. The company currently operates 106 centers and has more in development.

5. In 2017, SurgCenter Development added 25 centers, which have performed more than 20,000 joint replacements, 96 percent of which were outpatient procedures.
