Symbion Revenue Up 4% in Q3

Symbion’s income from continuing operations increased to $4.2 million in the third quarter of 2013, according to a report from the Nashville Post.

The company reported a net loss of $3.3 million during the third quarter of 2013; however this was still an improvement over the net loss incurred earlier this year. Revenue rose 4 percent to $129 million and revenue per case climbed more than 5 percent.

During the third quarter, Symbion purchased 59 percent share in a surgical center in California and 20 percent in a Tennessee center, spending $2.4 million combined.

Symbion reported spending $449,000 on hardware, software and implementation costs of electronic health records, and expects to receive further incentive payments for their efforts in completing EHR meaningful use requirements.
