5. Hartford Hospital, one of Saint Francis’s competitors in the region, opened the Bone and Joint Institute one-plus years ago. The $150 million facility includes outpatient services. Saint Francis Medical Director Steve Schutzer, MD, said the hospital’s ASC plans do not correlate to Hartford Hospital opening its center. Dr. Schutzer said the plans are a result of a shift in the market.
