PA’s Guthrie Health Applies to Consolidate Surgery Center and Hospital

Guthrie Health, based in Sayre, Pa., and principally serving residents in Northern Central Pennsylvania and Southern Central New York, has applied to the New York State Department of Health to consolidate Guthrie Same Day Surgery Center in Horseheads, N.Y., and Corning (N.Y.) Hospital, according to materials (pdf) for an upcoming DOH Public Health and Health Planning Council meeting.

The consolidation is one step of a larger consolidation process Guthrie is taking to better integrate all its facilities/entities into a single corporation, according to the organization. Guthrie Health wants to consolidate all its entities, including these two facilities, into a single cohesive organization that will be managed under one board with one mission.

The review could take several months, but Guthrie anticipates a smooth approval process, according to the organization. If the consolidation receives approval, there will be no change the scope of operations of Guthrie’s ambulatory surgery center.
