ASC Transactions & Valuation Issues

Tenet Healthcare, parent company of ASC chain United Surgical Partners International, has sold off several assets since the beginning of the year, including seven hospitals and three ASCs. 

Orange, Calif.-based UCI Health entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare's Pacific Coast Network, which consists of four hospitals and two ASCs across Southern California.

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare rounded out 2023 with fourth-quarter net income totaling $1.61 billion, a decrease of 26% year over year.

Healthcare real estate firm Flagship Healthcare Properties has acquired a medical office building in Mechanicsville, Va., for $5.4 million, according to a Jan. 30 report from Richmond BizSense. 

Optum, parent company of ASC chain SCA Health, is the country's largest employer of physicians, with a portfolio of 90,000 affiliated. 

Port Arthur-based Medical Center of Southeast Texas, an affiliate of Dallas-based Steward Health Care, will close its campus in Beaumont Feb. 2.

The Federal Trade Commission has sued Charlotte, N.C.-based Novant Health to block its $320 million bid to purchase two area hospitals and build a new ASC in Mooresville, N.C., according to a Jan. 25 report from The Charlotte Observer.
