Surgery Partners spent just under $250 million to acquire ASCs last year, and is planning for more in 2023.

Here are five mid-size ASC companies to know:

McLaren St. Luke's in Maumee, Ohio, said it will cease all outpatient services by mid-May. 

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, parent company of ASC chain United Surgical Partners International, is focusing on ASCs to fuel its growth. 

A medical office portfolio housing a 15-physician practice has sold for $20 million, the acquisition's seller, Capital Real Estate Group's U.S. Healthcare Investment Sales practice said in a March 6 news release shared with Becker's. 

VillageMD, a company majority owned by Walgreens, has acquired a 30-location physician group.

Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International, Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, Deerfield, Ill.-based SCA Health and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Surgery Partners are four of the largest ASC operators in the country. 

A medical office building in Upper Macungie Township, Pa., was sold for $69.58 million, The Morning Call reported March 1.

Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International, the largest ASC chain in the U.S. and subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare, employs more than 11,000 physicians.
