New ASC coming to Massachusetts hospital campus

The Medford City Council voted unanimously to build an ASC at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Melrose, Mass.

The 16,000-square-foot ASC is a joint venture between the Tufts Medical Center Physicians Organization, Shields Health Care Group and MelroseWakefield Healthcare. Physicians at the ASC will specialize in gastroenterology, orthopedics and otolaryngology. Specialists from Tufts Medical Center will also practice there.

“This new ASC will feature cutting-edge technology that is changing the way that healthcare is delivered. For patients, it means getting care that is high quality and low cost in an attractive and convenient setting near home,” said Tom Shields, president and CEO of Shields Health Care.
