Montecito Medical acquires Virginia medical campus with surgery center — 5 insights

Montecito Medical closed its acquisition of a medical campus in Virginia Beach, Va., Dec. 18.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The campus consists of two buildings, totaling 86,377 square feet.

2. The first building is leased by the Charlottesville-based University of Virginia. It contains physicians’ offices, exam rooms, labs and procedure spaces. It was built in 1992 as commercial office space and was converted and remodeled in 2012.

3. The second building was constructed in 2016. It houses Chesapeake (Va.) Regional Medical Center’s 15,916-square-foot surgery center as well as UroVA’s cancer center. The surgery center has four operating rooms.

4. The university signed long-term leases to continue to anchor the buildings.

5. Montecito has had a busy month in terms of acquisitions. The real estate company recently closed a deal to acquire two Milwaukee-based medical buildings with ASCs as well.
