Minnesota hospital opens surgery center after 38% increase in procedures in 5-year span

Alexandra, Minn.-based Douglas County Hospital opened a new surgery center, according to Voice of Alexandria.

Here's what you should note:

1. The hospital opened the center after experiencing a 38 percent increase in procedures since 2012.

2. The surgery center will expand the number of operating rooms from six to eight.

3. The hospital's center will allow it to expand its pre-op and post-op beds, as well.

4. The hospital completed the surgery center in 13 months.

5. Over the past seven years, Douglas County Hospital has invested $70 million dollars in technology, equipment and infrastructure.
