Mid-Atlantic Ophthalmology Group grows through acquisition of Maryland Vision Institute — 4 insights

Red Bank, N.J.-based Mid-Atlantic Ophthalmology Group acquired Frederick-based Maryland Vision Institute, adding to its already sizable portfolio.

Here's what you should know.

1. Mid-Atlantic Ophthalmology Group owns Annapolis, Md.-based Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center and Chevy Chase, Md.-based Whitten Laser Eye. The acquisition of MVI expands its footprint in the mid-Atlantic region.

2. MVI has three locations in Maryland and one in West Virginia.

3. The institute is led by Augustus Stern, MD, and Sidney Chang, MD. Both will remain in their current roles.

4. Dr. Stern said, "We are honored to join a team of outstanding physicians and clinical practitioners — including Chesapeake Eye Care Company and Whitten Laser Eye — to deliver the highest quality vision care and offer the state-of-the-art technology that is the hallmark of our ever-changing landscape of healthcare."
