Here are five things to know:
1. RadNet currently provides outpatient diagnostic imaging services through 298 owned and/or operated outpatient imaging centers. The new venture will connect 34 outpatient medical imaging centers in Orange County, Long Beach, South Bay and Southern Los Angeles County.
2. Beginning Jan. 1, 2018, RadNet will contribute 24 outpatient imaging centers and MemorialCare will contribute 10 outpatient imaging facilities to the venture. RadNet will manage the day-to-day operations at the facilities as well as administrative and back-office support.
3. Both partners hope the venture will create significant operating efficiencies as well as improve patient access to care. The centers will adopt RadNet’s eRAD Radiology Information System at all locations.
4. MemorialCare plans to purchase five breast imaging centers in Orange County and Long Beach from the joint venture to expand access to breast screening and diagnostics. The health system already has five breast centers in its hospitals and local communities.
5. MemorialCare is a nonprofit integrated health system with 14,000 affiliated physicians, employees and volunteers.
