Laser Spine Institute sees high revenues as Pennsylvania ASC openings rate slows — 5 highlights

Pennsylvania is experiencing a deceleration in ambulatory surgery center openings, based on a Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council report, according to Philadelphia Business Journal.

Here are five highlights:

1. The report also disclosed that Pennsylvania ASCs experienced a small financial improvement in 2014.

2. Laser Spine Institute in Wayne, Pa., brings in the most revenue among southeastern Pennsylvania centers at $37.4 million, and experienced the largest net income in 2014 at $16.9 million.

3. Jefferson Surgery Center at the Navy Yard follows second in revenue at $17.4 million, and Riddle Surgical Center in Media, Pa., brings in $15.5 million.

4. Outpatient visits in the centers statewide decreased by 2.1 percent in 2014, and the number of outpatient procedures decreased by 1.5 percent from 2013.

5. The net number of ambulatory surgery centers increased from 285 to 288, but at a slower rate than in years past.
