Kaleida Health System plans to close its Family Planning Clinic and Ear, Nose and Throat Center in Buffalo, N.Y., following the shutdown of an ASC less than a month ago, according to an Oct. 10 report from Buffalo-Toronto Public Media.

The clinic, which is set to close in November, provides gynecologic care, STI and HIV testing, and community health education programs. It sees an average of six to seven patients daily, Buffalo-based Kaleida told the publication.

The ENT center at Buffalo General is also slated to close before the end of the year, along with Buffalo Therapy Services locations in Williamsville and North Tonawanda, N.Y.

Kaleida closed Millard Fillmore Surgery Center on Oct. 1 after more than 35 years in operation. The system said the decision stemmed from multiple factors, including reductions in federal funding, particularly Medicaid reimbursement cuts.

The moves are part of a $200 million strategic plan launched earlier this year to “enhance patient care, strengthen the organization’s long-term sustainability and expand access to the care and services our community needs most,” Kaleida told the publication.

“While closing some services and locations and implementing workforce reductions in certain areas are part of this plan, there are also commitments to grow through new service offerings, investments in technology and enhancements to patient care,” the statement continued.

Becker’s has reached out to Kaleida and will update this story if more information becomes available.
