Kaiser Permanente in 2023: 5 moves ASCs need to know 

Here are five moves from Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente since Feb. 13.

1. Kaiser Permanente is aiming to strengthen the nation’s public health system through three new initiatives, the company said in March — healthcare delivery, community-based organizations and research. 

2. Kaiser on March 24 broke ground on an inpatient tower with 138 beds at Roseville (Calif.) Medical Center, which serves about 360,000 healthcare members in the area.

3. Kaiser tapped Mitch Winnik to lead its Downey service area in Southern California. 

4. Kaiser plans to move 1,200 administrative jobs from its headquarters in Oakland, Calif., to a suburb about 30 miles away. 

5. Kaiser reported a loss of $4.5 billion in 2022, according to financial results. The loss is down from a net income of $8.1 billion in 2021 — its operating margin dipped from 0.7 percent in 2021 to -1.3 percent in 2022.
