Here’s what you should know.
1. The Surgicenter replaced the original Island Eye Surgicenter, after a growing caseload strained facilities.
2. The new center has six operating rooms, 15 pre-operative bays, 12 post-operative bays, an 81-seat waiting room and an education and training center.
3. Robert Nelson said the expanded center will be able to train more physicians. Mr. Nelson is a physician assistant at the center .
4. The center has been operational for approximately nine weeks to date.
5. Island Eye has increased its support staff from 65 to 80 employees and has plans to add 20 more employees in the future.
