How important is autonomy to independent physicians?

Sixty-five percent of self-employed physicians said autonomy was very important to them, according to Medscape’s Self-Employed Physicians Report published Nov. 11.

Medscape surveyed 1,571 physicians between March 19 and June 3, of those physicians, 748 were self-employed.

Here’s how self-employed physicians ranked the importance of autonomy:

  • Very important: 65%
  • Important: 22%
  • Moderately important: 10%
  • Slightly important: 2%
  • Not important at all: 1%
