Hospital for Special Surgery’s Addition to Include Three Floors for Ambulatory Surgery

Last year, the Hospital for Special Surgery performed 12,000 ambulatory surgeries and 14,000 inpatient surgeries, said Deborah Sale, executive vice president of external affairs for HSS.

The new building would free up ambulatory operating rooms in the main building, which would be renovated and made larger to accommodate more inpatient procedures. HHS is in the process of moving 8,000 minor surgeries to a recently completed facility.

According to the hospital, construction won’t start until 2014 and should be completed by 2015.
