Hawaii Hospital Applies for CON to Build ASC in Mililani

The owner of Wahiawa (Hawaii) General Hospital has applied for a CON to build a new ASC in Mililani, with construction tentatively starting this fall, according to a report by Pacific Business News.

The surgical center, called Central Oahu ASC, will be partially funded by Smithfield Medical Development of California. The company, which has a 25 percent stake in the facility, is charged with managing its daily operations. Additional funding will come from physicians interested in investing in the facility.

Central Oahu ASC will staff eight operating room nurses, five surgical technicians, two operating room nurse's assistants and six administrative associates.

The construction of the new facility will cost over $5 million and is scheduled to be completed by summer of 2011, according to the report.
