Empire State ASC to open in the Bronx: 5 things to know

The freestanding, joint venture Empire State Ambulatory Surgery Center in Bronx, N.Y., is scheduled to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, according to a Bronx Times report.

Here are five things to know about the new surgery center.

1. Empire State ASC is a joint venture between New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America and 15 physicians, according to the report.

2. The 11,000-square-foot center houses four operating rooms.

3. The freestanding center is expected to create 40 new jobs in the area, according to the report.

4. The ASC offers orthopedics, ophthalmology and podiatry procedures.

5. Empire State ASC hosted its first procedure, an orthopedics case, in March.
