Development of New MI Surgery Center Included in Duke LifePoint’s Proposed Acquisition of Marquette General

A proposal by Duke LifePoint Healthcare, based in Brentwood, Tenn., to acquire Marquette (Mich.) General Health System includes plans to develop a new ambulatory surgery center for Marquette General, according to a news release.

Marquette General has signed a memorandum of understanding to join Duke LifePoint Healthcare, a joint venture of Duke University Health System and LifePoint Hospitals. The organizations will now closely examine the proposed acquisition and negotiate a definitive agreement, which will be subject to various government approvals.

 

In addition to constructing a new outpatient surgery center, Duke LifePoint’s acquisition proposal includes investments in other major capital improvements for Marquette General such as a comprehensive cancer center, private patient rooms and new technology.
