Cleveland Clinic Florida breaks ground on ASC: 5 points

Weston-based Cleveland Clinic Florida broke ground on Family Health and Ambulatory Surgery Center, in Coral Springs, Fla., according to Sun Sentinel.

Here are five points:

1. The 72,000-square-foot ASC will likely open in 2018.

2. Family Health and Ambulatory Surgery Center will offer specialty care, surgical services and imaging services.

3. The facility houses six operating rooms, 24 prep and recovery bays, two endoscopy suites, imaging services and 40 exam rooms.

4. The ASC marks Cleveland Clinic Florida’s first facility in Coral Springs.

5.  Wael Barsoum, MD, Cleveland Clinic president, said the clinic is keeping an eye out for changes in the legislature pertaining to overnight stays at ASCs. If the Florida House passes a bill permitting overnight stays at ASC, the new Coral Springs center will offer such services.
