Virtua seeks CON approval for $1B facility with ASC — 5 points

Evesham, N.J.-based Virtua, a nonprofit health system, is seeking New Jersey State Health Planning Board approval to relocate Mount Holly, N.J.-based Virtua Memorial Hospital to a new campus equipped with an ASC in Mount Holly, according to Burlington County Times.

Here are five points:

1. The campus will house the hospital, an ASC, medical offices, parking garages, a rehabilitation care facility and residential hospice and assisted-living centers.

2. The entire facility costs $1 billion. The hospital will cost $527 million of that total.

3. The New Jersey State Health Planning Board is holding a public hearing on the relocation April 3, 2017.

4. In its certificate-of-need application, Virtua included credit rating agency reports, including Standard & Poor’s and Fitch which upgraded the health system’s bond ratings from an A+ to an AA-.

5. If its plans come to fruition, Virtua’s campus will open in 2022 and will employ 3,378 full- and part-time workers.
