Baptist Health acquires controlling interest in Northpoint Surgery Center: 3 insights

Baptist Health South Florida in Miami has acquired an interest in a surgery center through its subsidiary AmSurg Baptist Network Alliance, according to a South Florida Business Journal.

Here are three insights into the transaction.

1. In December, AmSurg Baptist Network Alliance acquired a 26.9 percent interest in Northpoint Surgery Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., according to the report.

2. The health system paid $2.46 million to acquire the controlling stake.

3. Northpoint Surgery Center is a multispecialty surgery center offering gastroenterology, ENT, ophthalmology, gynecology, general surgery, orthopedics, pain management, podiatry and urology services.
