ASCs in Texas, Michigan, Tennessee closed this year

Becker's ASC Review reported on the closing of five ASCs this year:

Houston-based Nobilis Health Corp. closed three facilities on Sept. 27 after being appointed a temporary receiver for its assets. Nobilis closed Kirby Surgical Center in Houston, Plano (Texas) Surgical Hospital, and Uptown Surgery Center of Plano Surgical Hospital in Dallas.

University Physician Group — the faculty practice of Detroit-based Wayne State University School of Medicine — had its reorganization and bankruptcy exit plan approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit this past June. The plan entails receiving financial assistance from Wayne State, shutting down a Troy, Mich.-based surgery center, closing clinical practices and downsizing several other sites.

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's Methodist North Surgery Center in Memphis, Tenn. closed in January. Mary Alice Taylor, senior communication specialist for the surgery center, told the Daily Memphian: "As the Memphis healthcare marketplace continues to evolve, we have determined that providing outpatient surgery at the joint-ventured surgery center is no longer warranted."
