Here are five statistics to know:
1. Forty-eight percent of respondents said their organization has at least one ASC in 2023, up from 41% in 2019.
2. Forty-seven percent of hospitals and health systems have an affiliation or ownership interest in multiple freestanding ASCs.
3. Sixty-four percent of respondents prefer owning at least 50% of the ASC partnership.
4. Twenty-nine percent said their ASCs were owned solely by hospitals and health systems, an increase from 18% in 2021.
5. Still, 70% of freestanding ASCs are independently owned and operated, according to VMG Health’s “Annual Healthcare M&A Report 2022.”
