5 hospitals, health systems opening or planning ASCs

Here are five hospitals and health systems that opened or announced plans for ASCs in June.

Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care received approval from the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission for its $130 million ASC and office building development in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tennova Healthcare cut certain services at its Morristown, Tenn.-based Lakeway Regional Hospital while building an ASC on a North Knoxville-based medical campus. The center will include six operating suites and is expected to open in early 2019.

Flemington, N.J.-based Hunterdon Healthcare held a ribbon cutting ceremony June 14 for its new medical office space in Bridgewater, N.J. The 55,000-square-foot, three-story building now features medical offices for specialties such as breast surgery, occupational/physical therapy and urology on the second floor. An ASC occupies 7,500 square feet on the third floor.

New Lenox, Ill.-based Silver Cross Hospital opened a freestanding ASC in New Lenox through a joint venture with independent physicians and Addison, Texas-based United Surgical Partners International.

Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health is spending $800 million through its new Vision Northland project, which will transform its downtown presence. Essentia is planning to build an entirely new hospital, a clinical building and an outpatient surgery center.
