10 New ASC Openings & Expansions

Here are 10 new ambulatory surgery centers recently opening and expanding.


Surgicare founder Robert Knapp, MD, and associates have opened a new $7 million outpatient surgery center, Surgicare of Wichita, with its first procedure scheduled for Feb. 14.

Wauwatosa, Wis.-based VasCare, an interventional radiology ASC, opened last year and received Joint Commission approval.

BASIC Spine, based in Orange, Calif., announced plans to open a spine and pain outpatient surgery center in Newport Beach in early 2013.

The Eye Clinic of Wisconsin in Wausau opened its new surgery center in January, which includes two operating rooms, two laser rooms and one procedure room.

Florida-based New Port Richey Surgery Center announced it will move to a new location in Trinity to double its space, now reaching 19,000-square-feet and containing four operating rooms.

YMD Oculofacial Plastic Surgery, based in Winter Park, Fla., announced plans to open its 4,289-square-foot facility in 2013.

Flemington, N.J.-based The Paul Phillips Eye & Surgery Center, headed by Paul Phillips, MD, opened late last year.

A group of physicians in Susquehanna Township, Pa., opened a medical center that includes an ambulatory surgery center and houses 50 physicians.

The Malo Health and Wellness Center in Rutherford, N.J., opened a four-operating room ambulatory surgery center known as Malo Clinic Center for Ambulatory Surgery.

A three-operating room joint venture ambulatory surgery center, The Hand Center in Columbus, Ohio, opened and received accreditation last year.
