Intuitive Surgical's executive vice president and chief operating officer plans to transition out of his role.
What you should know:
1. Sal Brogna will remain Intuitive's executive vice president and COO for the remainder of the year.
2. Starting in 2020, Mr. Brogna will serve as a consultant and adviser to the robotic-assisted surgery device company.
3. During Mr. Brogna's transition, business unit general managers will report to Intuitive President and CEO Gary Guthart.
4. Mr. Brogna has been with Intuitive since October 1999, holding several titles including executive vice president of product operations, senior vice president of product development, and vice president of engineering.
5. Mr. Brogna looks forward to "stepping back from day-to-day operations and contributing to the solution of some of healthcare's challenges from a broader vantage point," he said in the transition announcement.
