1. Mr. Hawkins said he intends to help Surgical Theater scale the use of its Precision VR technology across multiple surgical disciplines. The visualization platform allows patients and surgeons to walk through a 360-degree, virtual reality reconstruction of the patient’s anatomy.
2. Mr. Hawkins spent nearly 10 years at Medtronic, which has a $100 billion market capitalization.
3. Currently, Mr. Hawkins is the board chairman at Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System and serves on multiple public, private and nonprofit boards.
4. Mr. Hawkins’ entrepreneurial and executive experience will help Surgical Theater establish its market leadership in the medical virtual and augmented reality space, according to Surgical Theater CEO and Co-founder Moty Avisar.
