University of Washington, St. Louis researchers work to fight viruses: 4 key points

Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis discovered how to improve immunity. Nature Immunology published the study.

Here are four key points:

1. By analyzing mice with viruses, researchers found a way to increase the body's immune system while damaging a protein that many viruses need to replicate.

2. The researchers recommend boosting the body's interferon signaling system to defend against viruses.

3. In their research, the study authors found new components in the immune system, and suggested the development of certain drugs to fight off viruses.

4. The interferon system's components unite in cells is responsible for hosting the viruses to stop the viruses from replicating.
