University of Buffalo medical students serve patients in Haiti, Honduras: 4 insights

University of Buffalo (N.Y.) medical students provided healthcare to underserved populations in rural Haiti and Honduras, according to University of Buffalo.

Here are four insights:

1. The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences students have made five trips, which David Holmes, MD, led; they treated 540 patients.

2. Jennifer Corliss, MD, led another group to Honduras, offering services to 450 patients.

3. The Honduras team collaborated with Shoulder to Shoulder, a nonprofit that enhances the region’s health, education and nutrition.

4. Many students treated patients they had treated in the past on previous trips.
