The Association for Medical Imaging Management, Toshiba America Medical System issue grants for patient safety efforts — 5 takeaways

The Association for Medical Imaging Management and Toshiba America Medical System awarded grants to healthcare providers for their efforts to improve the patient experience and safety in diagnostic imaging.

Here are five takeaways:

1. AHRA and Toshiba issued one grant of up to $20,000 to an Integrated Delivery Network as well as six grants of up to $7,500.

2. Of the six $7,500 grants, three were focused on pediatric imaging and three on overall patient care and safety in imaging.

3. The grants were part of the eighth annual 2015 Putting Patients First grants, which fund educational training programs for patient safety.

4. Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System won the IDN grant, which the health system will use to implement a comprehensive MRI education program.

5. The following providers earned the patient care grants:

•    Children's Hospital Los Angeles
•    ProMedica Toledo (Ohio) Hospital
•    Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
•    Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital
•    Holy Name Medical Center (Teaneck, N.J.)
•    Jefferson Outpatient Imaging (Norriton, Pa.)
