Across the country, spending on patients with six or more chronic conditions varies by region, a new study published in Preventing Chronic Disease found, according to a MedPage Today report.
Here are three notes:
1. In New York and western Oregon, the study found per capita spending on the cohort fell between $16,000 and $26,000.
2. However, spending on this group reached as high as $53,000 in north Texas and western Alabama.
3. The study authors suggested regions employ preventive measures to lower spending on this cohort.
