Here are five things to know:
1. Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.) reached a deal Thursday on a $1.1 billion funding package.
2. This legislation will bring the total amount of money available to fight Zika to $1.6 billion, about $300 million shy of President Obama’s request in February.
3. The Senate’s funding would be added to the $589 million redirected from the Obama administration’s last emergency funding request for the Ebola virus.
4. The Blunt-Murray package will be attached to the joint appropriations bill for transportation and military construction, which is headed for a Senate floor vote likely on May 19.
5. The House Appropriations Committee said Friday it will advance a Zika funding package smaller than the Senate’s, although the total amount of money has not yet been decided.
