Here are five notes:
1. Community members held a focus group, asking people to discuss the services and resources needed to improve physical and mental health issues.
2. Maternal health, adult health, preventable ER visits, chronic diseases, diabetes, cancer and dental care were some voiced areas of concern.
3. The group also brainstormed how to reduce costs of and increase access to healthcare.
4. A 2015 Community Health Rankings named St. Francois County 101st out of 114 counties in Missouri. The low ranking inspired community members to collaborate on improving healthcare.
5. St. Francois County reports a higher percentage of deaths caused by cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, coronary heart disease and diabetes than other comparable counties.
