1. Technology CEOs made an average of $4.16 million in 2014.

2. In 2014, real-estate CEOs topped the list with an average compensation of $4.52 million.

3. Following healthcare CEOs, energy CEOs made an average of $3.94 million in 2014, followed by financial services non-banking CEOs ($2.71 million) and retail CEOs ($2.57 million).

4. Manufacturing CEOs had an average compensation of $2.51 million in 2014, followed by financial services banking CEOs who made an average of $1.75 million.
