The District of Columbia saw the largest decrease in the average annual wage for physicians from 2023 to 2024, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

Across the U.S., the average pay for physicians increased $4,830 from 2023 to 2024, reaching $253,470.

Here are the five states with the largest drops in physician compensation using salary data from 2023 and 2024, the latest year data is available:
