Taking his ‘moonshot’ — VP Joe Biden pursuing research-based cancer initiative

Vice President Joe Biden has big plans for his life after the White House — helping cure cancer, The Mercury News reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. After the Obama administration comes to a close, Mr. Biden said he intends to start an organization — possibly called the Biden Cancer Initiative — to improve the research and development process to fight cancer.

2. Mr. Biden wants the initiative to improve data standards for researchers, improve access to community-based care and work with pharmaceutical companies to create affordable cancer treatments.

3. The vice president’s son Beau Biden died from brain cancer in 2015.
