Here are five key notes:
1. The surgeons of Tacoma Orthopaedic Surgeons joined Puget Sound Orthopaedics on Jan. 4, 2016, making the group the largest independent orthopedic practice in Pierce County.
2. The practice now includes 15 board-certified orthopedic surgeons, two podiatrists and 11 physician assistants. The support staff numbers to 110.
3. The practices merged with the hope of remaining independent while providing quicker and less expensive outpatient care.
4. April Gibson is the administrator for Puget Sound Orthopaedics. She played a big role in merging the two groups and overseeing the transition. The group is adding office space and practice space to accommodate growth.
5. Puget Sound Orthopaedics has clinic locations in Tacoma and Lakewood and operates Lakewood Surgery Center and Puget Sound Imaging.
6. The ASC can accommodate up to 3,000 outpatient surgeries per year.
