There were 993 physicians were surveyed across several specialities.

Here are six findings:

1. Sixty-five percent of the respondents feel more overworked now compared to when they started their careers. Thirteen percent said they are less overworked now than at the beginning of their careers.

2. Because of the long hours spent on paperwork, 39 percent of physicians do not believe their healthcare facility supports a healthy work/life balance.

3. Sixty-four percent of physicians believe they have less free time now than when they started their careers, and 22 percent spend at least an hour a day doing paperwork.

4. Fifty-eight percent said they are spending less time with patients now, than they ever had before.

5. Of the 1,000 respondents, 55 percent reported they had considered quitting or leaving the medical field.

6. Forty-one percent of the respondents needed to take second jobs to supplement their income.
