Here are four points:
1. National Physicians Alliance, a nonprofit, multispecialty organization, questioned Dr. Price’s trading practices saying “Dr. Price’s trading of more than 40 health industry company stocks worth more than $300,000 during time he cosponsored over 44 pieces of legislation that involved the health industry raises serious concerns.” Comprised of almost 10,000 physicians, National Physicians Alliance said the group wants patients to know they are continually working in their best interests.
2. Alongside NPA, Clinician Action Network collected 8,000 signatures on a letter voicing their opposition of Trump’s HHS pick.
3. Dr. Price’s healthcare plan would forgo Medicaid expansion, which is one concern the NPA takes issue with. The group added Dr. Price’s proposal would get rid of consumer protections and its provision allowing companies to sell plans across state lines would “kick off a race to the bottom.”
4. The American Medical Association has supported the nomination. The group has said that it doesn’t agree with Dr. Price on all his healthcare stances, however.
