Number of independently owned ASCs drops 6 percent in a decade

The number of independently owned ASCs dropped 6 percent from 2006-16, according to a report by Global Healthcare Advisors, an investment bank focused on healthcare mergers and acquisitions.

GHA used information from a January 2019 Surgery Partners presentation to compile six insights on ASC ownership distribution:

National operators
2006: 20 percent
2016: 28 percent

Independents
2006: 64 percent
2016: 58 percent

Other hospitals
2006: 16 percent
2016: 14 percent
