New York physician to pay $1.3M to resolve fraud claims

New York-based physician Arun Arora, MD, will pay $1.3 million to settle claims he violated the False Claims Act.

From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Arora, who provided care to nursing home residents, allegedly billed for critical care services when he was providing routine care, according to a Sept. 21 news release from the Justice Department. By billing for critical care while only providing routine care, he received extra payment, the report said.

Along with paying $1.3 million, Dr. Arora also entered an Integrity Agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service that imposes obligations to ensure he complies with Medicare rules moving forward.
